In my previous years of education, mass media was mentioned but never explained, so this lecture came as real clarity. I learned that in group communication there are non verbal responses, such as nods, and not everyone talks. I also learned the five steps to communication (stimulus,encoding,transmission,decoding,internalization,and feedback loop) and that they can be interrupted by filters and impedements. Filters occur during decoding and prevent decoding. Impedements occur between decoding and internalization .
I found psychiological filters interesting because I just can't imagine someone being so closed-minded that they won't even acknowledge a form of communication. That astonishes me.
